"... and 'yer womb'll shriv'l up--jus' like that!" The round, bearded man chortled loudly as he set a plate of dried beef and some bread in front of an uncomfortable looking Lilium. His red beard wriggled in delight as he laughed at his comment, feeling smug at the fact that he must have had his witty pants on this day. His comment received some chuckles from other tables where the regulars were trying to gain some brownie points... and maybe a free drink. Of course, the tavern owner was talking about Lilium. And, in case it was not apparent, he was gesturing to the beef. It took Lilium almost a week and a half to travel from Luscia to Fire. What took the extra couple of days for her was because she had to cross DragonMark Fields, as well, to collect some herbs that could only be found in such a hot yet green environment. Worth it, though, because now she had enough of the damn thing to last her a while before she would need some more. She was here in Fire, as always, on official business. There was a market day coming up for the upcoming season, so Lilium had to make sure that she had a place and permit to sell. She had just acquired some bartered weaponry from a blacksmith in Luscia who, apparently, absolutely needed an enchantment on a blade for some royal that Lilium neither knew nor particularly cared about. Her plan was to clean all of them, enchant some of them, and sell them during this market. She had just placed Falladah in the public stables with a bag of oats and carrots while she went out to find a meal. Hence, this tavern. As she began to eat, the tavern owner began to harp on again about her travelling on her own. Something about it being too dangerous for any woman to be out there unguarded, and that she must be something scary to survive out there for so long. Lilium just let it pass over her head as she eyed the tavern walls, trying not to make a snide comment that may raise the price of her meal. The Dragonhorn Challenge
Read a sign on the side of the wall next to the bar. It was written in large, Celtic lettering, giving it some sort of important or fancy touch. Lilium looked closer at the writing underneath...
The Dragonhorn Challenge
Hear ye! Hear ye! Whosoever is able to finish the ale served to them from The Legendary Dragonhorn Flagon shall be granted a free meal, a free sword of their choosing, and their name perched below this declaration. Long Live the Fire Monarchy!
Well, the challenged seemed entertaining and fascinating enough for Lilium to want to see it in action; but what the most interesting part about this challenge was, was that, below the sign, there were no names yet written. So, Lilium came to two conclusions: Either no one had tried to do this challenge in fear of failing in front of their comrades, OR no one has yet to gain success in the challenge. No matter which one, Lilium took a keen interest. No, not in the challenge--she is not very good with her alcohol--but in the flagon. Seeing that it was mere ale to be served in it, she could not imagine that so many people would either decline or fail. She has met with enough hefty sailors with the guts of Irishmen to know that there are really some men out there who can drink from dusk 'til dawn and still remain standing. What was so special about the Dragonhorn? That was what she wanted to ask the tavern owner. She looked up at the stout man just in time to hear him chuckle, "Boy, it's prob'ly easier fer ye' to find a sale than a husband, too!" ... Maybe she'll ask him later.

.X. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maybe coming to the Fire wasn't the best idea. He had already been here for an hour or so and already seemed to get himself lost. It has been while since Sora actually came here. He usually stay away from crowded places like this. There was no telling what could happen here. There always seemed to be fights going on between the men in this part of town, and if the boy somehow got caught in it he would most likely get beaten up. He wasn't like most people, he is very kind and tended to mess around most of the time. He wasn't very that strong and is really short, which is why he's an easy target.
The teenaged boy had no reason to be here exactly, he was just tired of being alone all the time. Not only that, but he was hungry and need some sleep, though the only probably was that he had no money on him. He was completely broke. It wasn't like he was even able to get a quick and easy job either. No one would hire him, he was just too small compared to everyone else his ages. "I have to at least try..." He said to himself. There was only one place he knew of which they would always says who's hiring what.
After a couple of minutes of walking, Sora finally made to the village's tavern. He knew it was kind of dangerous for someone like him to be in there, but it was the only place he knew of that had a lot of men giving out jobs. As soon as the fifteen year old walked in, a fight started to break out. At first, he just tried to ignore since it was near him, but instead the boy got punched in the face, while the other guy dodged it, leaving the boy to take the hit.

It was only a matter of time before the tavern owner's wit began to turn into crude insults. Lilium watched, before her eyes, as men began to rise from their seats, arguing about this and that; yelling insults, and making absurd statements about the other person's mother. Lilium had the sense to leave herself out of it and to let the men yell it out. It was around that time that a lanky, young-looking boy entered the tavern.
The boy looked weary and lost, thin from what Lilium could guess was exhaustion and hunger. Call it bad luck, but no sooner did the kid step into the tavern, a fight broke out. Maybe it was due to the wrong insult to the wrong man, but fists began to swing around the room. Beer mugs were being knocked to the floor, chairs began to fly across the room, and the sound of grunts and roars resonated around the tavern. Lilium sighed, ... well, isn't this unfortunate.
She finished off her food and downed her cider, looking across the room at the total chaos. It was then that her eyes caught the young boy again. It seemed that he had gotten mixed up in all the trouble. She saw him take a hit, and a good, hard hit at that. Lilium stood up at once, leaving money neatly in her mug.
She weaved carefully across the room, to where the boy was wavering in a dizzy aftershock. She dodged a chair or two, though she felt the hem of her coat get snagged a few too many times for comfort.
At last, she got to where the boy was. She picked him up and dragged him to the side, laying him up against the wall. She did not know what exactly it was that made her feel such responsibility or anxiety over the boy. Perhaps it was because she did not want to see an innocent bystander get in the way of such a horrible fight.
She dipped the hem of her coat in a puddle of what she guessed was either ale or beer from an upturned mug, dabbing the boy just under his eyes. "Hey..." her voice was touched with concern. "Kid, are you okay?"

.X. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nothing seemed to be going well for the fifteen year old. The only reason he came into town was to get some food and a break from fighting monster all the time. Maybe it was stupid of him to even bother coming here. Not only that, but Sora had to worry about his powers losing control since that usually happened when he got hurt, mad or both. "Yeah. I'm fine. I had worse things happen to me. I just wasn't expecting it..." Although the teen was still kind of dizzy, though that could be from not eating for a day or two. He wasn't counting. Either way, he wasn't feeling that great to begin with and getting punched only made it matters worse for him. “I'm Sora, by the way.” Introducing himself was one thing that only really mattered to him. Most of the kid's life was he always had to deal with fights. Then again, he usually stayed clear of fighting in general unless it was to protect someone he cared for.
After a couple of minutes, the teenaged boy decided to stand once again. Sure, it probably wasn't the best choice, but he didn't want to risk getting hit again. At first, Sora was very unsteady on his feet and had to use the wall as support and that is when once the dizziness came back to him. He tried to ignore it, but the dizziness was just too strong. Maybe that punch actually did some damage, after all.... Everything started to go blurry for the boy. At this point, Sora could barley stand much less walk on his own. He wasn't sure what was going on anymore. Even though he was still able to hear the fighting going on, but that didn't really even matter to him. “Damn it...” After saying that the kid fell over, passed out.

"Sora, eh?" the girl echoed his name slowly, watching as the boy tried to get up on his feet. She knew that he did not seem to be in a condition to get up just yet, but she let him try. Carefully minding his body as it wavered around, she kept a hand outstretched in case he needed it. "I'm Lilium, Sora..." she kept her eyes locked on his woozy complexion. "It's nice to meet you, kiddo..."
Then, before she knew it, the boy cursed, sinking to his knees as he fell unconscious. She caught him just before his head made contact with the wooden floor, cradling it up to a safe level of elevation. She looked around the tavern, seeing no sign of the brawl letting up its fiery clashes. The men were clearly in the heat of what seemed to be the battle royale of their lives... or, at least, until the next one that would probably happen next week or something.
Lilium lifted Sora up, albeit with slight difficulty, and attempted to carry him behind the tavern owner's bar. At least there, it was a little less chaotic, and she could get him some ice for that head of his. Unfortunately, the pair barely got halfway when Lilium heard a wild roar as a man threw a chair. It was, unfortunately, blocked, and headed straight for their direction. The girl barely had any time at all to quickly drop to her hands and knees, her body just above Sora's, to keep him from the danger.
The chair hit a keg of ale, letting the golden liquid from inside pour all over the floor, a few splashes hitting the Lilium and Sora. "Kid--I mean, Sora...!" Lilium whispered, dripping some of the spilling alcohol into his mouth. "You alive over there...? Sora?"

.X. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The teen still being knocked out, didn't answer. More like he wasn't able to. He had already been through a lot the past couple of days, and that blow to the head only made the matters worst. Not only that, but he had many things to worry about coming to a village his powers going out of control, finding someway to get food, and finally if the group of lizalfos would follow him here. It was because of those things that Sora wasn't feeling so well to begin with, after all they would never leave the poor kid alone. "Yeah. I'm still here, sadly....." The teenaged boy was still kind of half awake and half not, although he was able to joke around. He couldn't really make himself stay awake for long with the way he was feeling. Everything was still kind of a great blur for the kid.
Sora gave up on the idea of standing up on his own. Plus, he didn't want to risk getting hit again by something or someone since the battle of the drunken men was still going on. Although that did mean he wouldn't have to worry about anyone finding about who he was, and most likely get beaten up in the process. At this point, the fifteen year old even bother to sit up, knowing he might end up passing out again and he didn't want that to happen again.

At least Sora had responded. Regardless of whether he was having a good time or not, Lilium was relieved that he was alive at the very least. The tavern was not letting up at the very least, and the girl was finding it difficult to spot a clear way to the entrance. She could feel the boy slipping into a weaker state, making her panic just a little bit on the inside. She had to get him to safety--and she had to get him there fast.
She saw a door not too far from the end of the bar, large and wooden, like the entrance to something that was definitely more fancy than the pantry. Lilium could guess that it either led to the owner's quarters, or the stairs to the extra rooms; either way, it was safer than here.
Lilium picked up the dizzy boy, dragging him towards the door. Another roar resounded as another random man slammed his fists down onto a table, causing the plates and mugs to topple over, almost crashing down on Sora. Lilium just pulled him out of the way, wincing as she felt something go wrong in a muscle of her arm. She was not exactly one for emergency situations like this.
Eventually, after more blocking, close calls, and someone accidentally stepping on the hem of her coat, the girl finally got him to the door. She pushed it open, revealing a flight of stairs. Knew it... Lilium thought as she lurched Sora up the stairway, taking care not to bump his head on anything or cause him too much harm.
As they reached the top of the stairs, Lilium encountered a round, innocent looking woman who she only guessed was the owner's wife. "Excuse me, madam," Lilium bowed a little, reaching from her pouch to pull out a few silver coins. "This boy is hurt, can I please put him in a room?"
"Oh, please, dear," was the reply as she opened a door for them and Lilium set him down on the bed.
"Hey..." she cooed somewhat maternally to Sora. "Hey there, Sora, stay with me over here... You're condition isn't looking too good..."
Lilium contemplated on something for a moment, but then decided that she would see how the boy was doing before acting on anything. "The fighting got real intense back there, were you hit anywhere else besides your head?" She felt her arm throb for what seemed like less than a moment. Possibly from pulling Sora too quickly for her own strength.

.X. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Trying to stay awake was the one thing Sora was having enough trouble doing so. He wasn't really sure, though there was one then one reasons to why he was feeling like this. Sure, he didn't eat for a day or two not only that, but he had to fight off those very strong demons all on his own. Plus, if he remember correctly they also did some damage to the boy. "No.... I don't think so..." He had his thoughts on something much more important like what the hell did those giant lizards did to him, not to mention his powers were acting up like usually. Another thing that was bothering him was the fact that he wasn't able to use them, even if he wanted to. "I just haven't really been taking care of myself lately. Not only that, but...." The teen didn't know weather or not to tell Lilium why exactly the reason why he came here. But in the end, he figured it would probably be best to tell. "I have these giant lizards demon things trying to kill me, so I really shouldn't be here for long." He knew it was stupid to be moving in his condition though he didn't want to risk it. Sora was still dizzy as hell and probably couldn't walk, let alone stand on his own.
Everything still being kind of a blur for the teen, the idiot tryed sitting up though in the end his head was in so much pain he blacked out, falling back on to the bed. Sora needed the sleep more than anything, due to the fact he didn't get much sleep this pass week, though moving around in the condition he was in was just plain stupid.

"Giant lizard demon things?! Sora, what the hell--!"
Lilium never got to finish her sentence. Sora's warning deeply disturbed her because she figured out all too well that him being in a public area with these things chasing him down meant that he had endangered innocent civilians. But, before she could even begin scolding the boy, he tried sitting up; in his condition, however, that was most definitely a bad idea, leaving him to black out. This made Lilium panic just a little bit on the inside. She needed more information from him if there was going to be something that was about to go horribly wrong.
She turned to the owner's wife who was still standing by the doorway. Thankfully, she was far enough that she did not hear what the boy was saying. Lilium thought that it would be best if they stayed ignorant to his situation, lest they all go into a panic. The jolly woman blinked with concern. "Is he alright, dear?"
"Yes, he has just been under a lot of stress lately," Lilium shoveled through her pouch for more coins. "Do you suppose we could have some water or--"
The rest of her request was drowned out by a sudden, hideous roar that came from downstairs. At first, Lilium thought that the fight had escalated and that there was someone down there that was getting really pissed really quickly. But there was something very wrong about the way that roar sounded. It was too feral, and inhuman... too much like a beast. It was definitely not the roar of a man in rage. Something bad was happening downstairs.
The owner's wife brushed it off. "Oh, the men must be having a row...! I hope they don't destroy this place!"
Lilium's eyes darted in between the door and Sora. She could run away, save herself... I mean, she literally just met Sora, and, by the looks of it, he pretty much put everyone in danger. She did not owe him anything... But still, it would be such a cowardly thing to do. Looking at the sleeping boy, Lilium could not help but note how fragile he looked, how absolutely vulnerable... and that sudden urge to protect him seemed to chain her to his side. After more consideration, and a couple of dangerous thump!s that were too powerful to have been made by human hands, Lilium finally gave in, taking her hand out of her pouch and rummaging through her sling bag.
"I hope this isn't what I'm thinking..." she pulled out a small red vial, its liquid inside reflecting shards of rainbows onto the wooden floor. She then crouched down beside Sora, hesitating and thinking again. He needed it, and she could see it, but was it worth the trouble? She could just summon her horse and carry him out of the town altogether, but the damage it would cost to have Falladah in the tavern was something that Lilium was not very eager to pay.
A scream suddenly came through the air, resonating from the lower floor. That was the tavern owner's voice without question. She must have gone down to get water like Lilium had requested. There was another beastly roar, and more thumps. The noises getting closer to the stairs...
"Sora, sweetie, you're going to owe me a lot for this..." Lilium's eyes widened, unstopping the small vial and pouring its contents into Sora's partially open mouth. It was her major health potion, concocted only last night; a full health recovery, but it was quite expensive, and needed time to work its magic... that is, it would be at least a full minute until Sora would be able to open his eyes again.
That meant that all Lilium could do at that point, hearing the large footsteps... no--beast steps, as they got closer, was to sink to her knees, reaching for Sora's hand, and holding it tight. If there was a God, let it be that he would act swiftly...

.X. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was another couple of minutes before the teen aged boy woke up from being passed out. Although it did take another minute or two for the idiot to actually be fully awake, and that is when he finally when he notice what was going on. "Why the hell are the lizalfos doing here? They never followed me in a place with a lot of people before..." The only thing Sora knew was those things wanted him and would most likely leave everyone else alone, though that is if they didn't get in the way, that is. Nothing really seemed to make any sense to the boy, those giant lizards only targeted one person at a time. Not only that, but they usually stayed away from big crowds of people like this and that is why the one reason to why the fifteen year came here. Plus, the lizalfos always traveled in a pack of five or six, but there only seemed to be two here at the tavern . Even though it was kind of hard to tell with his powers not working at the moment. "Everyone down stairs should be fine. Those things only want me, so I don't think they would kill anyone just yet." He knew he had to do something and the only way those demons would leave if somehow killed or kidnap the kid.
At this point in time, Sora didn't know what to do. It wasn't like he could fight them off without his powers and the moron didn't have any kind of weapon on him. Plus, those things were twice the size of him. "They sure are deperate to kill me. Maybe their boss doesn't want to wait any longer." He knew it probably was the best thing to be joking around, but still did so anyway. It wasn't like talking them was a choice since they didn't speak the same language. The only choice he had was for them to finally get what they came here for.

"Li... 'Lizalfos'?" Lilium echoed curiously, standing up as Sora began to recover. "I've never heard of such creatures..."
It was a relief to the girl, knowing that those things were not the kind to destroy anyone besides their target. In that case, she could literally skulk out the front entrance without getting hurt. Her eyes went to Sora again, scanning him for anything that looked like... well, anything that looked like it would give him an advantage in fighting these lizard creatures. Judging by the look on his face, however, Lilium assumed that he was about as defenseless as half the people downstairs.
The thumping was still going on outside, as if the beasts were biding their time, like predators quietly stalking their prey. It was at this point that Lilium glided over behind Sora, crossing her arms nervously over her chest.
"Well, got any plans, kiddo?" she gulped a little. "Why are those things after you in the first place? Did you steal something from their boss?"
The girl had to admit, there was little to nothing more that she could do at this point. She was planning on telling Sora exactly how much that potion costed, but she figured that she would save it until they were safe enough to discuss trivial matters like trade and craft... You know, because being in a life-threatening situation is not the best time to bring up things like this.

.X. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The boy couldn’t do anything without those lizards bothering and here they are bothering him again. It was just this morning they decided to ambush when he was trying to sleep. It was very surprising he even made it out alive in one piece. “The Lizalfos are not from around here. I don’t really know why they came here, but it probably has to be something important to them.” Sora knew the reason why they came here. It was to murder him and somehow take his powers. Although it was probably best not to say that. The only way he knew how to fight those over grown lizards was to use his powers, but that was way too dangerous to do in a village like this. Plus, there was still the fact that those lizards did something to make his powers not working. “I didn’t steal anything from them. The reason they want to kill me is because I’m special… I’m not like everyone else.” The fifteen year old just decided to leave it at that. He didn’t really want to tell anyone else of what he was capable of doing. The less people that knew the better.
Now the only thing was to come up with a plan although there was one thing that would make the Lizalfos leave, give them what they wanted. Sora knew that was the only way, but it might being captured and most likely get killed in the process. “Um… There’s only one way they would leave without hurting anyone…. Give them me, which means…” He just left it at that. The fifteen year old couldn’t really bring himself to say it. He could only guess that Lilium knew what that meant.
